Pella Works With Community, Helping Develop Future Construction Tradesmen
Construction Trades are one of the fastest-growing career areas in the country and Pella® Windows and Doors was proud to be a recent supporter, helping train future Illinois tradesmen in the Construction Trades Education Curriculum as they took part in construction practice modules.
Pella donated windows and doors to the group and sent both a representative and professional installer to the class, giving students both a brief tutorial on windows and doors, and technical instruction on proper window and door installation.
CTEC students will learn the various skills needed to succeed in the construction and building fields, including blueprint reading, vocational math, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, residential wiring and more.
“This is a great opportunity to support the students and future homebuilders from the local community,” said Pella Sales Representative Tanya Kelly. “It allows us to spread awareness of Pella Products and our capabilities.”
Throughout the year, CTEC students visit active jobsites, tour local businesses and network with business leaders in our community. These experiences give graduates a better understanding of the industry and help them establish valuable connections in the local construction community. Whether they are surveying a build site, framing a window or wiring a breaker box, CTEC students develop the practical skills needed to succeed in the construction and building fields.
“Our participation has been well received and we are invited back each year,” said Pella Field Technical Representative Bill Marry. “We love to see a mix of both men and women in these classes. It bodes well for the future of the profession.”
Pella Windows and Doors is proud to support the next generation of construction tradesmen and groups like CTEC that help meet the needs of this growing area. To see more photos from Pella’s visit with CTEC, visit our Facebook page.
